Today has been a very slow day for me, thus far. I am inside of the Bella Center, but the interesting meetings are closed to NGO's for some reason. I am sitting in the center lobby area, watching others mill around like myself.
I did get a chance to read a very interesting and sad article by Bill McKibben. His words echo my fears in all of this. The article is very sad. Please take a moment and read his commentary: http://motherjones.com/environment/2009/12/reason-and-faith-copenhagen
I was lucky enough to hear McKibben speak last week. He is a powerful example for environmental activists everywhere. He is the founder of 350.org, one of the largest international activist movements ever. His actions have been nothing less than inspiring. Please take a moment and hear his words.
Thank you for the link, Zach. I had been wanting to know what McKibben was thinking and feeling and saying over there. He has become such an important leader in all this. ~Nicky
ReplyDeleteHis words are pretty discerning but we all need to hear this side of things. I've felt this way for a couple years now and it can be so disheartening, but like McKibben we all agree its best to go on with our efforts. Thanks for this great link, and all the links you've posted, your blog is SO well done and has a perfect balance of opinion and fact. OH! and just wanted to let you know that BYI held a hopenhagen vigil tonight, there was 12 of us, we lit candles, ate cookies and drank cocoa, and had a nice chat about all kinds of copenhagen/sustainability/recycling/etc stuff. I told everyone about what you're up to and they were all super impressed! Can't to read your next entry, like I said, save a Thurs. morning for recycle when you return! hope all is well, miss you! -nixon
ReplyDeleteMadi, you guys are awesome! I didn't even attend a vigil, and I'm in Copenhagen. You're actions are most excellent. I will see you in January for sure!... At a Recycle Club meeting. :)
ReplyDeleteTake care, and thanks for the feedback!
